Decades before this publishing deluge, Don Tapscott was thinking about how the Internet changes society, publishing numerous widely-read books over the last 30 years.
The reason for this decades-long focus is simple: Technology and culture cannot be seperated. Technology is not merely an appendage to culture, added to it after the fact to help with its various projects. They are interwoven; economy and culture are hung on the framework of possibility created by technology. The steam-powered boat and the anti-malarial effects of quinine allowed for the penetration and colonization of Africa; the automobile created the suburb (thanks a lot automobile); and the printing press mass produced knowledge. What will the Internet do?
